HHIM held its 4th Annual Sports Clinic for the children of El Plan, Cortes in October 2018.
A missionary from Push the Rock ministry in Emmaus, Pennsylvania serves as Clinic Director. The staff is typically made up of collegiate and high school athletes. Most of all the staff love to work with children and serve as excellent role models for those they work with.
The HHIM Soccer Staff conducts a four-station structured clinic. In addition to teaching soccer skills the staff stresses a Christian approach to characteristics such as determination, obedience, enthusiasm, and teamwork. The importance of sportsmanship is also taught. At each session a member of the coaching staff shares the gospel and presents their personal testimony to the kids.
The clinic is conducted in two sessions per day and over three days.
HHIM has built its Honduran footprint in El Plan, Cortes. This allows for working with an established ministry such as the Honduran Baptist Dental Mission.
First Baptist church of Enterprise, Alabama partners with HHIM in operating the four-day clinic. The clinic serves patients registered in El Plan and nearby villages and communities. Registration in the these villages and communities is typically done through Door to Door Evangelism.
The HBDM Compound Clinic includes medical and dental facilities. There is a large triage area, 3 Medical Examination rooms, a Dental facility, Optical Examination room, and a fully stocked Pharmacy. It is a real blessing to people in El Plan and nearby communities.
In October 2017 the first Children’s Church was part of the Mission Trip Agenda. The Children’s church targets younger kids who are too young to participate in the Soccer Clinic.
Children’s Church is held over three days simultaneously with the Soccer Clinic.
The small Children’s Building of the Templo Monte Sinai Iglesis was the venue for Children’s Church in 2017. It will move to the Worship Building in 2018. The Worship building was undergoing construction on the last visit to El Plan.
The kids participate in various activities, storytelling, singing, and games. Each child receives a gift.
One of the highlights of the annual Honduras Mission trip is having the opportunity to share the gospel door to door in communities near El Plan.
Among the villages the team has worked are Regalo de Dios, Corazal, and Veinte Ocho de Junio. These areas are impoverished communities with a great need for Christian love and humanitarian aid.
At Regalo de Dios is the Rios de Bendiciones Children’s Bible School. The school is led by longtime HHIM friend Pastor Javier Tabora and his family. Each year HHIM supplies LifeWay activity books for his preschool through third grade kids.
In the villages the HHIM Evangelism team gives bags of rice and bean to each home visited. Each home is presented a gospel tract laying out the Plan of Salvation. Those who have been reborn are encouraged to share the tract with others who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Another benefit received by the people of these villages is the opportunity to register for the Medical/Dental Clinic sponsored by HHIM and First Baptist Church Enterprise at the HBDM Compound. All families served at the clinic receive a Bible.
